Lead Snowflake Developer with MS SQL Server

We are seeking an experienced Lead Snowflake Developer with expertise in MS SQL Server to spearhead the transition of a significant data engineering stream to EPAM.

This pivotal role requires strong technical abilities and leadership skills to guide a new team of Database Engineers and QAs while maintaining a hands-on approach to development and collaboration. The role will involve working directly with clients and driving a successful transition process.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop ETL jobs using MS SQL Server, Snowflake SQL, and Talend to move and transform data from OLTP databases to Data Lakes
• Create automated processes for data cleaning, transformation, and relocation to defined destinations
• Identify and implement performance optimizations for automation, scalability, and efficient data delivery
• Collaborate effectively with data and analytics teams to enhance core functionalities within existing data systems
• Develop streamlined data consumption solutions for internal teams or external end-user applications
• Occasionally oversee and troubleshoot database processes to ensure seamless operations
  
  
  

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with MS SQL Server
• 1+ years of practical experience with Snowflake, including production environments
• Proficiency in ETL development, specifically integrating MS SQL Server and Snowflake
• Background working with Talend, or similar ETL tools, for robust data pipeline creation
• Familiarity with cloud-based data solutions and architectures
• Fluent English communication skills at a B2+ level
  
  
  

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Amazon Web Services and S3 integration, demonstrated experience with data warehousing solutions
• Skills in Microsoft Power BI and Talend Cloud, or similar tools
• Familiarity with data governance tools, such as Oval Edge, including metadata profiling and lifecycle management
• Understanding of change data capture (CDC) tools for real-time synchronization configuration and support
