We’re looking for a .NET Backend Engineer to support and evolve the backend systems of a live multiplayer strategy game. You’ll work with .NET Core services powering gameplay, LiveOps, progression, and online features, helping ensure scalable, reliable, and high-performance player experiences. Your focus will be on building maintainable backend solutions, improving service stability and performance, and supporting live game operations in collaboration with game developers, DevOps, and QA teams.

Volmi - A Virtuos Studio is an outsourcing company that specializes in game development and game content creation. Over the past 9 years, we have successfully completed over a thousand different projects and have gained considerable experience in creating 2D and 3D art, as well as developing turnkey games. Since 2022, we have been a part of Virtuos, the world's leading game developer, and have become the first Virtuos studio in Eastern Europe.
In particular, we have contributed to the development of popular games such as Diablo 2: Resurrected, Metro Exodus, Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts 2, Smite, Paladins, Gwent: The Witcher Card Game, and Marvel Snap. Therefore our team creates high-end gaming content and games for various Mobile, PC, Console, and VR projects.
What We Offer
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and optimize backend services and APIs for a live multiplayer game;
- Design scalable and reliable backend solutions for gameplay, LiveOps, progression, and monetization systems;
- Implement and maintain automated test coverage for backend services;
- Monitor live backend systems, analyze logs and metrics, and troubleshoot production issues;
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across services, databases, and integrations;
- Collaborate closely with gameplay developers, DevOps, QA, designers, and production teams;
- Support backend deployment workflows and contribute to CI/CD and operational improvements;
- Participate in backend architecture discussions, technical planning, and decision-making.
- 4+ years of professional backend development experience with .NET Core / ASP.NET Core;
- Strong understanding of distributed backend architecture, RESTful APIs, and asynchronous programming;
- Experience with cloud platforms and backend infrastructure services;
- Good knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases;
- Experience profiling, debugging, and optimizing backend services in production environments;
- Familiarity with automated testing practices and tools such as xUnit, Moq, or similar;
- Ability to write clean, maintainable, scalable, and production-ready code;
- Understanding of CI/CD workflows and deployment pipelines;
- Upper Intermediate+ English communication skills and ability to work effectively in remote cross-functional teams.
- Experience in game development or live-service products;
- Experience with multiplayer backend systems, LiveOps, leaderboards, matchmaking, or player progression systems;
- Familiarity with PlayFab, GameSparks, Firebase, Nakama, or custom backend solutions;
- Experience integrating backend systems with Unity or Unreal Engine clients;
- Knowledge of telemetry, analytics, monitoring, and live production support practices.
