Financial Analyst - Ukraine

Project Summary

Tetra Tech is providing energy expertise and related technical and material assistance to the Government of Ukraine. This project focuses on enhancing the resilience, reliability, affordability, and security of the electricity, natural gas, and district heating sectors. The scope of work includes addressing immediate challenges and physical damage to energy infrastructure, as well as preparing for Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction and long-term energy security.

Position Summary

Tetra Tech seeks a Financial Analyst to support the Financial and Economic Analysis team in evaluating energy markets and key sector players. This role will involve collecting and analyzing financial and market data, helping develop financial and economic models, and contributing to data-driven insights through visualizations and reporting. The analyst will provide inputs for investment assessments, regulatory monitoring, and market forecasting in the energy sector. This position will report to the Financial and Economic Analysis Lead. Interested candidates must be based in and eligible to work in Ukraine. This is a full-time position for the duration of the program (until April 2029), and hiring is contingent upon client approval.

Essential Job Functions

• Collect and analyze financial data on key companies in the energy sector, including quarterly and year-end financial statements and long-term investment plans
• Collect and summarize energy market statistics and macroeconomic indicators to update and develop financial models
• Monitor and summarize legislative and regulatory changes in the energy sector related to public service obligations, support schemes, tariff methodologies for distribution and transmission system operators, and other issues
• Support investment assessments and cost-benefit analyses by helping develop financial, economic, and investment models
• Update energy sector tariffs annually, or as revisions are made by NEURC and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine
• Prepare summary presentations of financial model outputs, including charts, tables, and written analysis
• Conduct research and benchmarking of best practices and relevant portions of regional energy requirements

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, accounting, or other relevant field
• Minimum of two years of professional experience in financial analysis, consulting, accounting
• Experience with big data analysis, structuring, and visualization
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Basic knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Ukrainian Accounting Standards (UAS) and ability to analyze financial statements
• Fluency in Ukrainian and full proficiency in English
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, or other relevant field
• Experience in the energy sector or familiarity with energy regulatory frameworks
• Experience on projects funded by the U.S. Government or other donors

• Frequently remain in a stationary position sitting or standing at a desk
• Occasionally move inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

Additional Information

• Employment type: This is a full-time, fixed-term position
• Work schedule: Monday – Friday, standard core business hours (9:00 AM – 6:00 PM local time); some flexibility required but must occasionally overlap with United States Eastern Time business hours
• Work location: This position is required to be in the office for at least 60% of the weekly working time (all arrangements subject to review and may change at the company’s discretion)
